How Birds Work returns to the AQ stage for a wonderful weekend of wit and whallop! This is a truly dynamic and experimental ensemble of supercharged improvisors. Expect lengthy forays into restructuring on standard repertoire and original tunes. Dean Granros is one of the most unique and gifted guitarists in the midwest and beyond. Peter Schimke brings a volatile mix of harmonic and rhythmic densities coupled with a introspective subtlety that blends well with the gut instincts and compositional improvisations of bassist Chris Bates. Add the tremendously energetic and joyous drumming of Kenny Horst and the music takes flight.
